Max joined Buckeye Mats in 2019, bringing a background in selling dimensional softwood lumber at Buckeye Pacific before moving over to the mat side of the business. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, he brings a strong commitment to professionalism, reliability, and personal connection to everything he does, both in the office and outside of it.
When he's not on the clock, Max enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending quality time with his wife, Courtney, and their newborn son, Banks.
Mike Bailey
Mat Sales & Procurement
Mike brings nearly a decade of experience with Buckeye Mats and over 15 years in the crane mat industry. He is known for his extensive technical knowledge of crane mats, helping customers find effective, practical solutions tailored to their specific jobsite needs. Prior to his work in the matting industry, Mike spent more than 20 years in the industrial lumber sector, building a strong foundation in wood products and supply chain operations.
Mike is a dedicated family man who enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, their four children, and a growing number of grandchildren. Mike is an avid outdoorsman—most often found on the golf course or casting a line spending the day fishing……but mostly on the golf course
Jordan Herron
Mat Sales & Procurement
Jordan joined Buckeye Mats in 2019, bringing five years of experience as a sales representative in the building materials industry throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Originally from Indiana, Jordan attended Indiana University before making his way west. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, watching college basketball, and spending quality time with his family. His favorite pastime is being silly and making his daughter laugh.
John Hite
Trader, Grading Specialist
John Hite joined Buckeye Mats in 2015, bringing over 13 years of specialized expertise in buying, selling, grading, and installing composite and timber mats. His extensive field experience makes him one of the industry's most knowledgeable specialists.
As Buckeye Mats' traveling expert, John crisscrosses the United States providing on-site consultation to help customers determine optimal matting solutions for their specific project requirements. His extensive field experience enables him to assess site conditions, recommend appropriate mat specifications, and ensure customers receive maximum performance and value.
John also leads Buckeye Mats' mat grading operations for buybacks and provides crucial technical support for customers.

Jack McNulty

Jack McNulty brings four+ years of proven expertise to Buckeye Mats, consistently delivering exceptional results since joining in 2021. He specializes in connecting construction and project managers with the right crane mat solutions for their specific requirements.
Jack holds a B.S. in Business Marketing from California State University, Northridge, where he competed as a Division I volleyball player.
Jack resides in Oceanside, California, with his wife Molly and their dog Lucy. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active at the gym, creating music, and spending time with family.
Steve McNulty
Vice President
Since joining Buckeye Mats in 2015, Steve has brought over two decades of experience in the crane mat and commodity lumber industries to the team. With a strong background in lumber trading and a customer-first mindset, Steve built the Buckeye Mats team around the mission: "To provide our customers and suppliers with the very best service, quality, and pricing available. We believe it all starts with the selection of the team and our core values."
Under Steve's leadership, the company has grown steadily, remaining committed to delivering excellence across every project.
A former collegiate basketball player, Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Hawaii Pacific University. Outside of work, Steve and his wife Cindy enjoy an active lifestyle with their four children and two grandchildren. They stay busy with family activities and cherish time spent together, whether at the beach, traveling, or simply enjoying new experiences.
Alejandro Gonzalez
Operations Support
Alejandro joined the Buckeye Mats team in 2025, bringing valuable logistics and customer service experience to support the company's growing operations. Prior to Buckeye Mats, he spent two years working as an import coordinator and in automotive sales, developing strong organizational and client relationship skills.
As Operations Support, Alejandro plays a crucial role in keeping Buckeye Mats running smoothly by supporting the sales team with accounts payable/receivable, logistics coordination, inventory management, and essential administrative operations. His logistics background ensures efficient coordination inside Buckeye Mats' nationwide distribution network, helping deliver ground protection solutions on time and on budget.
In his free time, Alejandro enjoys hiking, playing video games, and embracing spontaneous adventures, believing that life is all about gaining new experiences.
Kam Morgan
Mat Sales & Procurement
Kam joined Buckeye Mats in summer 2024, bringing a professional background that includes warranty management at a marine dealership, sales experience, and customer service roles in San Diego's hospitality industry. This varied experience has equipped him with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
As a Buckeye Mats Trader, Kam leverages his background to understand the critical importance of reliable solutions in demanding environments. His customer service experience ensures construction and project managers receive the expert guidance and responsive support that Buckeye Mats is known for, whether they need immediate crane mat solutions or long-term rental arrangements.
Originally from Oregon, Kam returned to his home state to launch his career with Buckeye Mats and reconnect with family and friends. His local roots and understanding of Pacific Northwest construction markets make him a valuable resource for regional clients navigating complex ground protection challenges.
When not helping customers solve their crane mat requirements, Kam enjoys outdoor pursuits including hunting, fishing, surfing, and golfing, activities that keep him connected to the rugged environments where Buckeye Mats' equipment performs every day.
Elsie Garner
Operations Support
Elsie joined Buckeye Mats in 2024 and serves as Administrative Lead, managing logistics, accounts payable and receivable, inventory, and direct support for the trading team. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, reading and writing, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with family.
Tommy Troyer
Mat Sales & Procurement
Tommy joined Buckeye Mats in 2025 after serving as General Manager of a hardwood sawmill on the East Coast, where he led a mill producing more than 12 million board feet of crane mats, laminated mats, and silt fence stakes each year. He's excited to bring that depth of experience to help customers find the right solution for their matting projects.
Tommy lives in Virginia with his wife, Karissa, and their two children. When he's not buying and selling mats, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
Owen Retzlaff

Owen joined the Buckeye Mats team in 2024 after interning with Buckeye Pacific while still in school. He thrives in a team-driven environment, and what he enjoys most is helping companies find the right matting solution for their project.
Born and raised in Portland, Owen graduated from the University of Oregon with a business degree. An ardent supporter of Duck athletics, he spends his free time outdoors, whether on his bike or out on the golf course.
Karla Bergeron
Logistics
With more than 40 years of transportation and logistics experience, Karla plays a vital role in keeping Buckeye Mats moving. As Logistics Manager, she is dedicated to supporting Buckeye's mat traders by providing exceptional customer service, coordinating efficient transportation, and ensuring shipments arrive safely and on time.
Karla takes pride in building strong relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors while helping create solutions that contribute to Buckeye's continued growth and success. Her extensive industry knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to service make her an invaluable part of the Buckeye team.
Outside of work, Karla enjoys spending quality time with her granddaughter, who keeps her smiling and reminds her of what matters most.
Augrora Morales
Operations Support
Augrora moved from Seaside to Portland at eighteen, eager to build a career rooted in hard work, reliability, and growth. Her ten years at Reddaway and Yellow gave her a strong foundation in transportation and logistics, along with hands-on experience in customer service, operations support, and team coordination. She's earned a reputation as a dependable problem solver who adapts to any challenge.
Augrora joined Buckeye Mats in September 2025, excited to continue her professional journey with the team. Outside of work, she's busy keeping up with her daughter, Jaylyn (3), and her twin girls, Zendaya and Soraya.
